Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure currently has an opening for a Chief Construction Inspector to join our team in Dallas-Fort Worth. The applicant should be able to demonstrate an established career in Construction Engineering and Inspection, specific to vertical construction projects. The Chief Inspector must have familiarity with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods and processes, specifically with regards to vertical construction projects such as office and industrial buildings, stadium and sport arena, hotels and hospitality facilities, and commercial/industrial/education facilities. Job responsibilities include directing the activities of Inspector(s) and Senior Inspector(s) to insure inspection and testing activities are conducted and documented and that schedules are maintained.

Key Responsibilities •Under minimum supervision and directions, lead project specific construction inspection programs in accordance with established quality procedures and evaluate compliance with project plans, specifications, shop drawings and other project related documents •Monitor the Contractor’s operations to ensure compliance with contract terms, plans and specifications. •Coordinate and direct all phases and disciplines of construction inspection of projects, which are typically complicated by fast-tracked construction and significant project coordination with property owners, Developer, Construction Manager, architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and Contractors •Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with contractor and the Construction Manager; reviews and monitors contractors' plan of operation; and advises contractors of violations and recommends adjustments to operations •Maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, quantity measurement records, progress schedules, work orders, and non-conformance logs •Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing and/or inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures •Review plans, specifications, general notes and shop/working drawings for assigned activities prior to performing assigned duties •Perform, supervise, report on frequency compliance and coordinate field tests on materials and completed work using standard methods established by ASTM, AASHTO or other agency with appropriate, properly calibrated testing equipment •Supervise, mentor and train less experienced inspectors on work methods •Meet with contractor's supervisors or other project leaders on assigned project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling, or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures •Assign work priority tasks to assigned inspector(s) •Review material tests and completed work performed by assigned inspectors to assure compliance with requirements of established procedures •Verify adequacy of number of samples and locations at which samples are collected to assure representative distribution of sampling and testing •Perform analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager and Construction Manager •Document, track and communicate of construction non-conformance •Under minimum supervision and direction, interact with clients and other site personnel provide input on appropriate resolution of issues and findings •Assist Project Manager in development of scope for construction quality inspection and testing services •Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management
Skills / Qualifications Required •High School Diploma or equivalent required •Minimum 15 years of construction inspection experience or the equivalent in training and related experience •Minimum 2 years of above experience in a supervisory role •ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I certification •At least two (2) of following certifications: ?ICC Residential Building Inspector certification ?ICC Commercial Building Inspector certification ?One or more ICC Special Inspector certification on Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Sprayed Fireproofing, Pre-stressed/post-tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel Welding, and/or Structural Steel and Bolting ?PCI Level I, Level II or Level III, ?AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI) •Valid Driver’s License required •Reliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times •Ability to prepare reports and documentation •Strong written and verbal communication skills •Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required •Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred but not Required •Associate degree in civil engineering technology or construction engineering technology •Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook •Certified in Radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation •It is preferred that experienced inspectors at this Level have and maintain one or more following certifications: ?ICC Master of Special Inspector ?American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI) and/or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) ?American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification in more than one of the following areas: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT). ?TxDOT SB102 and Level 1B
Physical Demands •Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work •Ability to lift up to 30 pounds •Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles •Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
