To oversee and provide direction to the Metrology department that will effectively and profitably meet or exceed the expectations by providing superior quality products and service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises the metrology group assigned to manufacturing departments work activities to provide timely and efficient flow of services and projects.
Participates in design reviews on cross-functional teams to ensure that conformance to specifications, design for inspection, reliability, and quality system objectives are met.
Maintains a leading edge understanding of the quality processes required in manufacturing orthopedic devices and components in order to find new and novel opportunities to improve quality and reduce cost.
Hires and develops the manufacturing metrology team. Actively provides coaching and career development assistance to team members. Develops future leaders by effective selection and development activities.
Prepares detailed inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering specifications.
Writing of work instructions for Metrology techniques relating to standard platforms for associates.
Coordinates GR&R and Correlation study activities and helps evaluate precision and accuracy of measurement equipment.
Confer with supervisors from other departments to coordinate operations and activities and meets with managers or subordinates to resolve issues.
Promotes and enforces EH&S policy, ERG rules/guidelines, work instructions in its department and surrounding areas.
Evaluate employees through performance reviews.
Prepares and maintains monthly metrology metrics for review by quality management.

Education and Experience:
Associates degree required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferred
Minimum five years Medical Quality related or Manufacturing Quality related experience
Two years or more of supervision preferred
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Proficient in writing and editing CMM programs.
Proficient in Gauge R&R and test method validation.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
Proficiency in assessing manufacturing quality requirements of new product ideas
Proficient in reading / interpreting engineering drawings and the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing per ASME Y 14.5.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC, Auto Cad, CMM’s, non – contact inspection, Surface plate layout.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.
Language and Communication Skills:
Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
