The Senior Project Engineer purpose is to manage design projects profitably and deliver an excellent work product to the client; Mentor and transition work to staff; Assist with recruitment, writing proposals, and managing clients in the transportation market sector.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities GENERAL
Apply a broad knowledge of principles and practices to perform engineering design tasks for roadway and drainage projects from conceptual to final design, and planning/technical studies.
Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
Execute work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
Utilize a solid working knowledge of an entire project life cycle.
Prepare complete project documents, including plan, specifications, and studies.
Utilize a strong working knowledge of roadway and drainage design software tools.
Mentor and develop junior staff while providing valuable input into design Best Practices.
Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work among staff.
Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
Assist with business development, client relations, and proposals to provide professional services.
Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff, subcontractors, and clients.
Complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines, identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
Professional Engineer License in California.
Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.
Valid California Driver License.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
10 + years, Minimum experience of 2 years as a Project Engineer.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Must be a self-motivated, innovative, and resourceful.
Knowledge of and experience using/teaching CADD/Design software.
