At a minimum, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, and have five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration and supervision of municipal public works and engineering projects. A Master’s degree and possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers is highly desirable. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license is also required.
