The Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS) of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking a mid-level transit planner. This individual will be involved in a variety of projects, which could include transit planning, fare studies, Title VI analysis and reporting, suburban-mobility studies, capital-investment studies, first- and last-mile studies, environmental-justice analyses, and surveys.
Qualified candidates must have:
A master’s degree in transportation planning, urban/regional planning, engineering, or a closely related field
Three or more years of experience in transportation planning, including transit and transportation policy issues
Project management experience
Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative
Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and/or database skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative information into concise, well-organized narratives
The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects while adhering to deadlines
Skills in the following areas are desirable, but not required:
Supervising project team members
Developing and maintaining client relationships
Geographic information systems
Knowledge of the Boston region and MBTA
