The Director of Energy Storage System (ESS) Development will act as business developer for our projects, and is responsible for providing ESS support to our development team. This position reports to the President or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This position is expected to travel a minimum of 50%.
Develop business model for energy storage systems (ESS), for both stand alone and combined with PV, for the utility and commercial market segments.
Work closely with and support the PV project development team to enable competitive bidding process into RFP and bilateral PPA contracts when ESS is integrated into the product mix.
Develop and maintain working database of all ESS suppliers, products, competitive analysis to improve overall competitiveness in the ESS market segment.
Participate and at times lead complex negotiation together with the PV developers for PPA contracts when ESS or energy service requirements are involved.
Work closely with the 174PG senior staff on new alternative utility business model, including leading due diligence and spearheading M&A opportunities in ESS and energy services business.
Support teams on supplier escalations with technical disputed items, schedule, revenue - risk and on-going support services during build out of ESS systems.
Work closely with engineering staff to convey the voice of the customer in design layout and technical requirement consideration. Collaborating with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results. Work with ESS members at Hanwha Energy based in Korea for synergy and alignment.
Bachelor’s Degree in business-related or technical field
Advance degree, such as MBA, is preferred
At least 10 years of hands-on experience or equivalent in the energy markets, ESS and/or renewable project development is required.
Must have firm understanding of energy markets, particularly in the deregulated markets and translate gaps into business opportunities and new leads/business models.
Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time, and must be able to work efficiently and productively in remote location
Must be able prioritize multiple and simultaneous projects, issues, and activities and work across multiple time zones
Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and implementation and facilitation skills.
Must have firm understanding of alternative PPA structures, such as Contract for Differences.
Must have firm understanding of financing as it pertains to project development.
Must demonstrate high degree of professionalism at all times, must be ready to represent and speak on behalf of 174PG/Hanwha when called upon.
