The Supplier Quality Engineer monitors and drives improved quality performance for targeted suppliers in North America, Europe, Asia and other geographies; ensure that ESCO products and key purchased materials meet quality requirements and that supplier quality issues are driven to root cause and corrected in a timely manner. Provides technical leadership for supplier process and product quality to qualify assigned materials and products; helps define and implement key commodity strategies to reduce risks and meet cost, quality, and delivery targets; develops, implements, and manages best-in-class supplier quality management system tools and processes; conducts factory assessments and site audits by utilizing quality tools to evaluate the target supplier’s capability; manages complex cross-functional projects in support of ESCO sourcing and business requirements.
Lead internal organizations and suppliers to develop, manufacture, and supply products to meet quality requirements; influence Product and Engineering teams to develop and specify manufacturable products; drive suppliers to stabilize and improve capabilities to meet ESCO specifications; assist in the qualification of new suppliers, supplier processes and products; coordinate product qualification activities for assigned products and suppliers
Drive root cause understanding of supplier quality issues and ensure implementation of effective preventive corrective actions
Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of best-in-class supplier quality monitoring and qualification tools and processes; monitor supplier quality indicators and drive corrective action for product failures and negative trends
Lead/assist cross-functional teams of internal and external resources to source and deliver quality products
Understand the basic elements of metallurgy and various casting techniques, fabrication, and various assembly processes
Understand the essential requirements for manufacturing processes, especially critical quality control points
Bachelor’s degree Engineering (or related technical discipline)
Five+ years’ experience working in supplier quality management resolving challenging quality issues
Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be willing and able to travel up 20% domestically and 5% internationally as needed
Requires excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
