The University of Texas at Austin Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) invites applications for a tenure-track position in structural engineering. The position is intended to be filled at the assistant professor level. We seek outstanding candidates with a structural engineering background experienced in developing innovative solutions for the assessment and management of aging and deteriorating civil infrastructure, including the structural implications of deterioration and predicted lifespan of existing infrastructure. A core expertise in computational modeling and simulation at the structural scale is required for this position. Experience in structural testing is preferred but not viewed as mandatory. The successful candidate is expected to establish a well-funded, sponsored research program that supports graduate students, bring excellence to classroom teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be involved in service to the university and the profession. Though preference will be given to applicants at the assistant professor rank, truly exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be considered.
