Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Principal or Senior Water Resources Engineer with experience as a seller / doer required to expand water resources and stormwater market for Central Region Offices. The position is located in our Nashville office.
Duties include business development, technical expertise, mentoring, and project management. Typical primary project types include flood risk and municipal stormwater management, stream channel rehabilitation and restoration, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and hazard mitigation.

This position will report directly to the Nashville Water & Technology Services Branch Manager and be involved with leadership of the water resources engineering service line. A primary responsibility will be business development for government and private sector clients, including identification of prospects, pursuit strategy and implementation, proposal development and marketing activities associated with regional water resources projects. This position’s key responsibility will be developing future business and supporting local engineering. Other duties include:
Provide senior leadership / mentoring to engineers and directly oversee engineering projects
Participate in local, regional, and national civil engineering related organizations
Serve as subject matter technical expert of specific tasks or projects
Compile and present results of planning and engineering studies
Prepare and review interim and completed engineering reports
Convey project results and findings by means of oral discussions, presentations, and project documentation
Skills / Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in water resources engineering, serving in increasingly complex positions acquiring, performing and managing water resources - related projects with full responsibility for budget, schedule, contractual obligations, client service, and quality standards
Strong, proven, and verifiable history of identifying and effectively pursuing federal, state, and / or local government clients for water resources - related opportunities
Experience in hydraulic engineering, FEMA studies, stormwater management, bridge scour, and hydraulic design including proficiency with HEC - RAS, HEC - HMS, SWMM, and ArcGIS
Demonstrated passion for business development and effective project management skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or related field of study (Masters preferred)
PE certification (preferred)
Strong network of contacts with clients in the southeast U.S. in the water, government, energy, and / or industrial sectors (preferred)
