Position for an experienced Senior Project manager for ongoing and future Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) projects and for planning/implementation of upcoming CERP projects (e.g. Central Everglades Planning Project.)
The Senior PM should be able to execute the project delivery process by managing high-profile/high priority projects which support one or more of the District’s strategic Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Programs in the Federal Policy and Coordination Office.
Demonstrates a knowledge of District and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers policies and project management processes in the Federal Planning Process, with excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple, high priority/complex ecosystem restoration projects leading diverse project management teams with representatives from multiple federal, local, state and tribal governments under tight deadlines while aligning the scope, schedule and budget with District’s strategic mission.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills in sharing complex and sensitive information with internal and external stakeholders from the federal, state, local and tribal governments.
Incumbent applies a global perspective for the comprehensive and consistent application of Project Management concepts and methods to:
Influence decision-making and resolve conflict among stakeholders (internal and external)
Effectively develop a multimillion-dollar project budget
Identify and measure critical success factors
Identify team members that are technically proficient to represent the various disciplines needed to implement the project
Project Management concepts and methods incorporate scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, procurement and integration management skills. Interfaces with Enterprise Project Management Division to assure understanding and compliance with SFWMD project management methodology.
Position may be filled at the level of Project Manager.
Senior Project Manager: Typically has a Bachelors’ degree in a related discipline with 6+ years’ experience. Relevant specialty license or a Masters’ degree in a related discipline preferred. Prior experience is a blend of project management and business/line department roles (i.e., Science, Engineering IT, etc.).
Project Manager: Typically has Bachelors’ degree in a related discipline and 4+ years' experience. Prior experience is a blend of project management and business/line department roles (i.e., Science, Engineering, IT, etc.).
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Examples of relevant specialty licenses include State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG) license, and Registered Architect (RA).
Valid State of Florida Drivers’ License.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment: Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position will at times be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
