The laboratory of Dr. Dorothea Tholl (Biological Sciences, Virginia Tech) is seeking applications for a Master’s or Ph.D. study as part of an interdisciplinary USDA funded project on pheromone metabolism in plant pests (stink bugs, flea beetles) and its engineering in trap crops. The study will investigate the biosynthesis of terpene aggregation/sex pheromones and explore possibilities of engineering pheromone production in trap plants to develop alternative pest control strategies.
Previous research experience in biochemistry or molecular biology is desired
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Strong written and oral communication skills
