Postdoctoral Scholar – Plant Transformation and Genome Editing - Innovative Genomics Institute
Description: The Innovative Genomics Institute at The University of California Berkeley invite applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position on an Innovative Genomics Institute project. The work will involve the research projects related to maize genomics and transformation.
Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for preparing plant donor materials, testing tissue culture response of several maize lines, generating and shipping transgenic events and molecular analysis of transgenic/genome-edited plants. The candidate will be involved with inter-laboratory collaboration and will work with team members to develop biological hypotheses, test hypothesis via experiments, present research progress in project meetings and conferences and prepare manuscripts for publication.
Minimum/Basic Qualifications required at the time of application: • Ph.D. or equivalent international degree program in the field of Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or Molecular Biology.
Additional Qualifications required by start date: • Experience with vector construction, molecular biology, and plant tissue culture.
Preferred Qualifications by start date: • Knowledge of different transformation protocols
Appointment: This position reports to Dr. Myeong-Je Cho and will be working at the Innovative Genomics Institute at UC Berkeley. The initial appointment is 100% for one (1) year with the expectation of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding. The anticipated start date of this position will be as early as April 01 2019.
Salary: $49,188 – $59,736, depending on qualifications. This position provides full benefits.
