We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Research Associate to join our fast-growing and collaborative team. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to perform plant transformations, tissue culture procedures and genotyping analysis in various crops to meet project goals. The individual needs to be detail oriented, organized, maintain excellent records of experiments performed, and note problems and recommend solution. Good communication skills are required for this role to communicate within an interdisciplinary team.
As Research Associate,
Perform plant transformation and in vitro tissue culture of multiple tissue types and crops
Prepare plant tissue culture media
Use and maintenance of standard tissue culture related equipment
Perform genotyping analysis, include: DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, gel electrophoresis and qPCR
Perform plasmid purification and transformation of bacterial organisms
Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology,Botany, Biology, Horticulture or related subject with 1-2 years laboratory experience.
Minimum of 1 years hands-on experience in plant tissue culture. Industry experience preferred
Highly organized with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, start-up company environment with a high attention to detail and adherence to laboratory research SOPs
General molecular biology and microbiology techniques
Excellent planning, organization and execution skills. Strong ability to document experiments.
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Good time-management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, and management
Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
Master’s Degree preferred
Knowledge of plant transformation and tissue culture technologies
Knowledge of molecular biology
