The Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Waterloo, housed in the Department of Systems Design Engineering, invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. In the case of exceptional candidates an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor may be considered. Candidates must possess a PhD degree, preferably in engineering, and must be eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario and commit to registering within three years.
The program strengths lie in the areas of Biomechanics (e.g., biofluids, musculoskeletal and tissue mechanics, sports engineering, rehabilitation), Biosignals (e.g., imaging, electrograms, diagnostics, machine learning), and Biodevices (e.g., sensors, instruments, therapeutics, Bio-MEMS, assistive devices, implants, prostheses/orthoses). We are seeking candidates in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus in one or more of our strength areas, or in other related or emerging areas. The successful candidates will be expected to supervise graduate students, to develop a leading-edge research program, and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering science and engineering design fundamentals with biomedical applications.

We seek individuals who have developed or who have the capability to develop robust and sustained externally-funded research programs that complement existing strengths in the Department and Faculty.

The Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo was the first-of-its-kind in Canada, hosting the most flexible undergraduate programs and interdisciplinary areas of research.
