Focal Point has an immediate opening for a Supply Quality Engineer. This position supports the Focal Point organization by improving operational performance through the supply quality improvement processes. He/she will participate in efforts to improve and sustain the following processes: Supplier RMA and NCR process, purchased product inspection and first articles, supplier evaluation, supplier score cards, specification review, supplier corrective action, FMEA and control plan, and the supplier qualification process. Key knowledge and experience needed for this position includes understanding and using P/DFMEA and control plans, specification setting, supplier facing communication, coordination of activities with account teams and other departments, corrective action, inspection methods, and auditing. This position reports to the Director of Product Excellence and indirectly to the Sr. Purchasing Manager.
Role & Responsibilities:
Ensure that the following activities happen according to plan and in a timely matter to minimize disruption to planning and manufacturing operations: supplier corrective actions, supplier nonconformance resolution, purchased parts inspection.
Lead the analysis of supplied-product non-conformances using lean daily management activities and drive supplier corrective action resolution to drive down the nonconformance occurrence rate.
Work with purchasing department and engineering on the improvement of specified designs and ensuring that suppliers can meet the requirements.
Enforce process adherence through QMS auditing, score card performance improvement, supplier audits and assessments, and corrective actions.
Participate in the development, deployment, and improvement of the supply quality manuals and supply quality metrics. Demonstrate to decision makers the concepts and data related to of cost versus value related to nonconformance.
Problem Solving –Knowledge and ability to solve problems using lean manufacturing or Six-sigma® methods, ISO 9001 corrective actions, non-conformance and containment processes.
Expert knowledge and ability to use and implement inspection plans, control plans, P/DFMEA, use of specifications and drawings, and trend or control charting. Experience with using control charts, Pareto analysis, and other statistical analysis to solve problems.
Ingenuity - ability to apply old knowledge to new problems and ability to obtain new knowledge and apply it.

Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an accredited program
3 Years of experience and achievement in a role that is responsible for regular supplier facing activities, including supplier complaint resolution.
Working knowledge and experience with quality systems and process standards; including ISO9001, ISO 16949, or AS900; including process auditing.
Computer proficiency--Expert level in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, and Visio. Minitab working knowledge.
Work requires fluent English professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual Spanish speaking and writing is desirable, but not required.
