The award-winning City of Charlotte is recruiting nationally for a newly created executive position General Services Director. Serving at the pleasure of the City Manager, the Director plans, organizes, evaluates, and manages daily operations of the Department of General Services. As a key member of the City’s executive management team, the General Services Director oversees eight divisions managing a range of important service areas including capital improvement projects, fleet services, procurement, environmental services, parking, property management, stormwater services, and other important support function activities. The Department of General Services is comprised of 491 full-time staff with an annual budget of $26.4 million and Capital Improvement Projects of $131.8 million.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field. An advanced degree is highly desirable. This position also requires a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible municipal administration including significant administrative and personnel management responsibilities. Experience in capital project management preferred.
