Strategy and Decision Analytics (SDA) team at T-Mobile USA is looking for analytical and strategic problem solvers with quantitative backgrounds to join our team. SDA is at the center of decision making at T-Mobile and team provides strategic and analytical leadership to organization on pricing of products & services, media spent optimization, performance analytics and enterprise value optimization. There are multiple opportunities currently available across SDA and depending on your career aspirations and strengths you will be interviewing for one of the open positions.
As a member of SDA you will work collaboratively with business partners, including executives in marketing, operations, finance, and product development, to drive initiatives and solve business problems with the goal of maximizing enterprise value. The nature of your job will be project based and utilizing your analytical skills you will focus on answering business questions such as how should we price wireless products and services, which customer segments to target, what types of media are most effective, how should we allocate our media budget and how should we spend our next marketing $?
To be successful in SDA, you are a strong self-starter, and someone who has a passion for learning and experimentation. You will first develop a deep understanding of wireless industry (products and services), customer economics of subscription business, media tactics, advertising technology and overall TMUS enterprise value drivers. You are adept at scoping, importing, landing, cleaning, structuring, joining, and understanding data sets that are big, new, and complicated. You thrive on the challenges inherent in dissecting complex problems, building advanced analytical models and visualization tools to measure the impact and efficiency of initiatives on business value. You derive conclusions and deliver clear recommendations and actionable insights. You are comfortable with communication on all levels: technical discussions with internal partners, as well as story-telling key insights to business partners with the goal of improving business results and influencing overall company strategy.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: This role requires technical, analytical, and communication strengths:
Develop deep understanding of industry, corporate, media purchasing and customer drivers in order to conduct business performance optimization analysis
Perform data analyses such as statistical hypothesis testing, time-series regressions, optimization models, and custom analytics
Build comprehensive financial/quantitative models to evaluate marketing opportunities and their impact on T-Mobile’s overall portfolio value
Question results and find meaningful insights; not just report numbers
Advise, discuss, and calculate key business outcome metrics
Validate and critique analytics and models built by internal and external partners
Partner and collaborate with key internal teams, as well as external consultants, agencies and vendors
Cultivate positive cross-functional relationships
4+ years of quantitative work experience and/or coursework involving quantitative/financial modeling, optimization, statistics, database architecture, scripting, ETL
Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into insights, experience with performance analysis, business case analytics and financial modelling
Capability to prioritize and deliver on multiple thread of work without losing attention to detail or strategic perspective
Ability to communicate highly quantitative or analytical findings succinctly and in formats easily understood by senior management
Required– advanced knowledge in each of the following areas: SQL; Statistical tools: R, SAS, SPSS, Python, Excel; Visualization tools: Tableau, PowerBI
Degree in quantitative field such as Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Operations Research, Engineering – Bachelor degree required, MS or PhD highly preferred
