A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Yu lab at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research - Dallas with a focus on using genomics and comparative genomics tools to study molecular mechanism underlying agronomically and economically important traits. This position will study the genetic and molecular basis of salt secretion in Chloridoid grasses and functionally validate candidate genes using virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) or CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. The ideal candidates will have experience in genomics and plant molecular biology, a strong publication record, and a PhD in plant molecular biology, genomics, or related discipline within the past three years.
Design and execute experiments based on project objectives.
Develop new and adapt existing methodologies.
Communicate regularly and work with other researchers on this project in order to facilitate progress toward program goals.
Ability to work carefully but efficiently in order to meet project goals in a timely manner.
Maintain technical documentation.
Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
Assisting in writing project reports.
Requires a Ph. D in Plant Molecular Biology, Genomics or related field;
Demonstrated analytical skills sufficient to troubleshoot and data analysis problems and make recommendations;
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills;
Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel while working on multiple projects.
Experience in plant molecular biology research;
Experience in genomics and bioinformatics;
The initial appointment is for two years and continuation is dependent upon satisfactory performance and fund availability.
