Direct, manage, supervise and coordinate activities and operation of all electrical production facilities and units (NDS 4&5, DHPC, WEC1 and PPGA’s WEC2).Coordinate assigned activities with other utility departments and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Manager of Utilities.
Essential Functions of the Job
A key responsibility is to supervise other personnel as designated by the Utilities Manager. The following tasks are related to supervising others:

Managerial responsibilities include:
*Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for both Hastings Utilities and the PPGA.
*Manage and participate in the development and administration of the departments’ and PPGA’s capital and operational budgets.
*Ensures the Manager of Utilities is kept advised of the operational status of all electrical generation facilities.
*Provide responsible assistance to the Manager of Utilities in the preparation of necessary reports and correspondence.
*Ensure all production facilities conform to applicable code and regulatory requirements.
*Assist in planning and overseeing all capital improvement projects and upgrades; review and approve the acquisition of equipment and materials.
*Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of plant operation.
*Ensure all proper documentation relating to facilities and conditions are precisely maintained.
*Determine required amounts of fuel for proper operation and schedule for timely delivery.
*Ensure proper training is provided to all departmental personnel.
*Provide a safe and healthy work environment for all department personnel.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in electrical or mechanical engineering or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to steam/power production. Ten years of experience in power plant operation, maintenance or engineering, with at least five years of supervisory and/or administrative experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Must live within 30 minutes (per Google Maps) of duty station.
