About SMCFD No. 1
Superstition Mountains Community Facilities District No. 1 (the “District”) provides sewer service to those in the City of Apache Junction. The District is located in the fast growing eastside of the Phoenix Metropolitan area and it is anticipated that over the next 20 years the District will experience very rapid growth that will increase its overall size more than ten-fold. The District is located near the beautiful Superstition Mountains Wilderness area, Canyon and Apache Lakes. Wastewater is collected from customers through more than 110 miles of sewer lines. The wastewater is treated at the District’s tertiary treatment plant where it is recharged, reused, or discharged. The majority of the reclaimed water is recharged back into the ground. A minimal amount is discharged to natural waterways.
