Post-doctoral Research Associate - Biochemistry of Plastoglobule Lipid Droplet Proteins
Michigan State University
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral (Research Associate) position available in plant lipid droplet biochemistry at Michigan State University in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Lundquist. We study the function and formation of plastoglobule lipid droplets of chloroplasts which are highly relevant to plant stress responses and play an active role in membrane remodeling and numerous lipid metabolic pathways. Several dozen proteins are known to specifically target and associate with the surface of the plastoglobule, however the mechanisms which underlie this remarkable specificity are unknown. The incumbent will utilize a multidisciplinary approach to identify molecular mechanisms of protein association with the plastoglobule and their remobilization within the chloroplast. Candidates with experience in plant molecular biology and biochemistry are strongly encouraged to apply. The position will be initially for an appointment of one-year, renewable annually, contingent upon performance and availability of funding. The post-doc Research Associate will be responsible for designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, helping with manuscript and grant preparation, overseeing and training other lab personnel.
