Instructor, Engineering Project Management

The Department of Civil Engineering, in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor in the area of Engineering Project Management.  The anticipated start date is July 1, 2021 or mutually agreed upon date.    

The successful applicant will align with the University of Calgary's Growth Through Focus strategic vision and support its strategic academic priorities of transdisciplinary scholarship, future-focused program delivery, and deeper community integration.  The position includes on-campus and online course-based teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs.

You will be a dedicated educator, with the requisite expertise in Engineering Project Management, and demonstrated excellence in engineering teaching and education.  This will be evidenced by a record of university undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience; recognized teaching excellence; scholarly activities related to engineering education and pedagogy; collaboration in university, professional, community and/or Indigenous community settings; mentorship and leadership; relevant industrial experience, and evidence of academic service and community engagement. 

You will have a demonstrated ability to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses on topics related to engineering Project Management as well as a range of core undergraduate courses in engineering.  You will actively contribute to teaching, curriculum development, teaching and learning innovation and pedagogy.  You are expected to develop scholarship in engineering education and are expected to provide service in support of the Department, School, University and Profession.  As a member of the University of Calgary community, you will support, and contribute to, equity, diversity and inclusion and a positive working and learning environment. 

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must hold a Bachelors in Civil, Industrial or Systems Engineering (or equivalent Engineering degree) and graduate level degree related to Project Management or a closely related discipline; preference will be given to applicants holding a Ph.D.  The successful candidate will have a strong interest in undergraduate and graduate education and in the scholarship of teaching and learning and evidence of excellence in teaching and learning.  Relevant industrial experience is an asset.  Candidates should have strong oral and written English communication skills. All candidates must be eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
