Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
Manages work programs and facilities to meet adopted service schedules, performance standards and customer services needs are met.
Develops and executes operations plans to optimize resource allocation among work programs.
Manages work order system to ensure on-time service delivery; oversee monthly commercial customer billing and payment.
Conducts field condition reviews to ensure quality of workmanship and quality of services delivered.
Prepares reports and presentations; meet with commercial customers and neighborhood associations.
Plans, implements, and evaluates commercial refuse, recycling and litter abatement work programs; makes necessary adjustments and revisions to work programs; monitors judicial and legislative mandates relating to solid waste management, recycling and litter abatement programs.
Responds to citizens' concerns and questions; disseminates information on department services and procedures.
Interfaces with other departments to ensure equipment and supply availability and to properly define work program responsibilities; forwards information from field supervisors to other city departments, community groups and partnering entities for follow-up.
Prepares and justifies budgetary requests; develops, manages, and directs departmental operational budget to ensure necessary resources are available to accomplish departmental goals; audits budgetary spending to assure budgetary compliance.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Master's Degree in Public Administration, Environmental Engineering or related degree; with five years of supervising work experience in sanitation services program management, recycling and litter abatement program management, or closely related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Additional Requirements Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
