The NIH-funded Minnesota IRACDA Program (https://mniracda.umn.edu/) has two openings for postdoctoral scholars with an anticipated August 31 start date.
A central goal of our program is training a diverse cohort of research educators. IRACDA scholars participate in research (75% effort) and mentored co-teaching (25% effort). The mentored co-teaching is done at one of our two partner institutions, Normandale Community College and North Hennepin Community College. Scholars also host/mentor undergraduates from our partner institutions in the laboratory over the summer. Scholars are eligible and expected to be supported for three years by the IRACDA Program, with an optional fourth year supported by the research mentor
Here are some things we are looking for in applicants: •A commitment to an academic career •An interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring •A strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion •Research promise, as often exemplified by at least one to two graduate publications and strong recommendation letters, though we are willing to invest in talented candidates with less successful PhD experiences. •Applicants should have no more than 1 year of postdoctoral experience
A letter of interest and the names of proposed mentors
Their curriculum vitae
A teaching statement discussing their interests in teaching
A diversity statement, articulating their understanding and contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion
A demographic form, which is not used in the evaluation process, but only for the purposes of reporting program metrics to NIH
Phase II involves the submission of a research plan (up to 5 pages) and two letters of recommendation. Phase II applications submitted no later than August 15 will be reviewed by our Executive Steering Committee.
