As a Plant Quality Manager, you will Develop and implement Quality Assurance strategies, procedures, and policies to establish and maintain PPG Huntsville’s quality programs to meet aerospace regulatory requirements and company operating priorities. You will proactively manage the quality organization and effectively interact with regulatory and business partners to enhance and improve business and regulatory relationships and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Adapt evolving concepts and practices to enhance the quality of the product, the employees, and the workplace while improving partner value.
- Manage all aspects of the quality assurance organization, encompassing planning, budgeting, staffing and leadership, along with technical guidance in this specific area of responsibility to maintain an effective, cost-efficient quality system and a safe working environment to meet PPG Huntsville priorities.
- Provide primary interface and issue resolution with FAA and foreign regulatory bodies on relevant aspects of the quality system (production certificate, repair station, etc.) to ensure privileges of the Production Certificate and Repair Station ensuring certificates are maintained at the highest standard of partnership and cooperation.
- Maintain a leadership role in representing PPG Huntsville and the quality organization within PPG Aerospace, and outside professional and public forums.
- Manages processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process management of change including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.
- Applies core elements (PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.) to identify and make recommendations for managing risk in product development.
- Drive / Monitor / Coordinate Technical Investigations (CAR, PAR, RCCA, 8D)
- To ensure Supply Chain / Operations and Quality Departments to coordinate timely responses to any requests for technical support.
- Provide the Technical interface to Customers (OEMs/ Airlines), Manufacturing, MRO Operations to support deliveries and cost reduction.
- In collaboration with peers, define and implement changes in quality processes and organization, industry standards and regulatory guidance when appropriate.
- Define and implement actions to support new product or process development to include type certification, supplemental type certificate, production certificate, or repair station initiatives.
- Assure compliance to all applicable federal, corporate, departmental and organizational policy requirements.
- Maintain an excellent relationship with internal and external customers
- Manage the professional development of team to enhance professional growth.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-site technical or regulatory practice issues with diverse team members to improve company business practices and processes to include the expansion of Production Certificate.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement in procedures, processes and customer satisfaction to improve cost, schedule and quality of processes.
- Lead the professional growth of the entire quality assurance organization by improving processes, internal and external customer relations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5 - 7 years of experience working in a Quality Engineer/Supervisor environment with continuous advancing work.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team with strong leadership, communication and self-motivational skills
- Solid interpersonal skills with experience in customer/supplier relations.
- Self-motivated: Process/results oriented.
- Problem solving skills required.
- Significant experience with FAA and ISO 9001 and QS 9100 Rev D Quality Operating Systems.
- A driven, committed with a track record of taking ownership and calculated risks.
- Statistical training /experience desired.
- Able to handle multiple assignments under extreme time constraints and high stress conditions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office application required.
- Must be able to work days, evenings, or weekends to meet business needs
- Must be a US Citizen.
