Through research programs funded by science and technology R&D organizations within the U.S. Department of Defense, the research and development team in FAST Labs collaborate across the enterprise. On this team, you will:
Solve DoD's most challenging decision science, planning, scheduling, and routing problems by applying AI and ML approaches.
Conduct cutting edge research on the most challenging defense related S&T projects, and push the limits of Defense related technology.
Work with experts across the spectrum of military subject matter experts, data scientists, and software engineers to create unique and trusted solutions to challenging problems.
Implement software prototypes for defense customers to demonstrate feasibility of solutions then transition projects for follow-on development. Consistently work in the cutting edge of DoD technology spanning a wide array of programs and contracts.

This position can be located in either Burlington, MA or Arlington, VA. Hybrid work from home and in-office work, with office locations in either Burlington MA or Arlington VA.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor’s degree (4+ years professional experience), Master’s Degree (2+ years experience), PhD (with research experience) in technical program with computer science, mathematics, or engineering required.
Proficient coding expertise in at least one modern object-oriented programming language, such as Java or Python.
Expertise in state of the art Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithmic approaches desired.
Artificial intelligence and Machine learning background with research emphasis on AI/ML support to decision making, including resource allocation, planning, routing, and scheduling highly desired
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Technical Master’s Degree or PhD in computer science, mathematics, or engineering desired.
Experience with software integration or developing tested, production-quality code.
Experience coding in additional languages, such as C++, Python, or Matlab.
Proven ability to formally develop, publish, and/or present technical concepts.
Experience executing DARPA and DoD service laboratory programs desired.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
