Working under the supervision of the engineering team based in Akron, OH, the Embedded Linux Software Engineer designs, develops and maintains software supporting the System on Module platform capabilities provided within Laird products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop and test embedded software operating on Laird’s embedded Linux platforms as defined by the senior engineering team including Linux drivers, network stack components, kernel updates & maintenance, BSP, device tree, and application development
Work with FAEs and customers to understand, replicate, root cause and bug fix customer issues
Responsible for software development projects following a formal process, including definition of requirements, software design, development, code reviews, while adhering to software standards, and functional testing methodologies
Prepare and review documents, including requirements analysis, design, unit testing plans, release notes and user guides etc.
Provide network stack support, analysis, and design related to the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radio stacks globally
Collaborate effectively with other groups and business partners
REQUIREMENTS
General knowledge on defining project scope, deliverables and team requirements
Proficient in C, knowledge of C++, Python and development using ARM microprocessors beneficial
Any capabilities with Linux kernel or device drivers, Linux network stack components, Wi-Fi, BT or other radio protocols, or Shell Scripts a plus
Close attention to detail and a conscientious delivery of software that meets the defined standards is essential
Able to work successfully in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment and effectively multi-task priorities in a team-oriented environment
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements and schedules
