The Embedded Systems Engineer I is involved in the development of embedded radio and sensor products. While the position is hardware design orientated, embedded programming knowledge in C for ARM CPU’s is highly preferred. The position is responsible for the design & technical performance of RF related products, providing technical expertise to product development teams in the RF area, and for supporting the test methods required for the development of RF related products. This is an onsite position in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
Design supporting circuitry and peripherals such as; MPU host and memory interfaces, clock sources, serial communication interfaces, user interfaces (UI), board-mounted power management, sensor integration, etc.
Contribute to the hardware design of embedded RF platforms operating within common license-free bands and protocols. For example, WIFI, Bluetooth, BLE, 802.15.4, and LoraWAN.
Develop PCB-level schematics and BOMs.
Develop HW test plans and contribute to test plans developed by other engineering disciplines.
Work as part of an engineering design team with other RF engineers, software/firmware engineers, industrial designers, mechanical engineers, and project managers to develop new RF related products.
Provide direction to PCB CAD Specialists following proper practices in routing & EMC.
Foster designs and products through EMC and regulatory testing.
Participate in defining and developing production test solutions.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to a variety of small or large groups including formal design reviews.
Work within our defined development processes and established QMS & PLM tools & practices.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engnieering, or a related field
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a Team environment
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
Ability to provide self-direction in solving problems and executing assigned tasks
Knowledge in new product development processes and work flow
Knowledge in participating on multi-disciplinary product development teams
Knowledge in the operation of Logic Analyzers, Signal Analyzers, & DC Power Analyzers
Familiar in the use of electrical simulation tools like ADS & MATLAB
Knowledge and experience in the C programming lauguange
Experience in SolidWorks and/or Altium PCB CAD is a plus
