Job Purpose:
Responsible for applying engineering data analytics to help ensure accurate and efficient modeling. The proper modeling helps on multi-million dollar decisions for OUC.). Collect data, process data and generate the power and expense billing for the Florida Municipal Power Pool (“FMPP”). Performs a variety of long-term financial and production studies and forecasting, and produces consultant quality reports for special Production Costing runs. Additionally, may serve as a Clearinghouse Price (CHP) Administrator.
Primary Functions:
· Perform long-term production cost studies, cost, capacity factor, unit startups, fuel usage, etc. using the production cost modeling (PCI GenTrader) software;
· Produce in depth financial analyses to understand the economic conditions of multiple operational scenarios by analyzing a variety of data;
· Design, create, and automate reports that verify the Clearinghouse Price Settlement Process’ (CHP) data integrity and create reports to support internal and external information requests;
· Perform medium and long-term production cost studies, cost, capacity factor, unit startups, fuel usage, etc. using the PCI GenTrader software;
· Produce and present a variety of in-depth analysis to management in a professional/consultant format; create authoritative reports and recommendations that concisely informs of complex matters to help management understand issues, solve problems or make decisions;
· Process improvement from PCI GenTrader’s database for production cost, fuel budgeting and hedging using the studies output, create a series of algorithms to prioritize and allocate each pool members’ resources to the appropriate obligations;
· Forecast the hourly FMPP CHP using System Lambda (System Marginal Price) along with OUC’s long or short position, utilizing this market intelligence, recommend medium term (6 month) operation’s strategies for OUC;
· Administrate the FMPP CHP process; responsible for CHP data integrity and settlement process;
· In collaboration with other departments, integrate changes in the business process into the CHP settlement process;
· Prepare training material for CHP training, as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) troubleshoot and intervene on solving problems during the settlement process and train other employees on the settlement process;
· Lead cross functional projects and groups across utilities to resolve technical issues;
· Attend regular onsite meetings with FMPP members and other task forces as determined by management.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements:
· Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:
o Bulk power operations;
o Production cost modeling software (GenTrader preferred);
o Engineering principles related to power production and bulk power
o Data analytics practices and principals;
· Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following:
o Florida Municipal Power Pool (FMPP);;
o Web Reports form GenTrader;
o Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws;
· Keen to detail but also creates new tools for the identification of trends for management and the development of new policies;
· Effective written and oral communications skills;
· Ability to apply a variety of procedures, policies and/or precedents;
· Analytic ability in adapting standard methods to fit facts and conditions and draw reasonable conclusions and recommendations;
· Ability to develop comprehensive, in depth management reports;
· Ability to incorporate OUC financial metrics in all reports;
· Ability to lead teams and projects;
· Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; compute rates, ratios and percentages;
· Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).

· Masters of Business Administration degree (preferred)
· Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in bulk electric system operations
· Prior CHP experience (preferred)
