The College of Arts and Sciences at Lawrence Technological University seeks a new Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS). Reporting directly to the Dean, the Chair of MCS will be an integral and essential part of the college’s academic leadership team. LTU is amid a transformative change, moving towards R2 status and building a strong research program in math and computer science and starting a new PhD program in computer science in the Fall of 2024. The Chair is a highly visible, well supported role from top leadership while also enjoying a high priority, very well supported administrative position, including the ability to move the program in a new direction as they see fit.
The successful candidate is student focused and through strong industry partnerships and collaboration is committed to grow student investment and enrollment and produce job-ready graduates. The next Chair is a strong promoter of research and faculty development and will help to define our recently approved new computer lab. The ideal candidate is expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded, active research program in an area of expertise, teach graduate and undergraduate courses as needed, and serve the department, college, and the university in various capacities. The Chair is also expected to proactively stimulate research collaborations among MCS faculty and faculty across colleges.

Terminal degree in computer science, mathematics or a closely related field.
Tenurable at the time of hire for Associate Professor level.
Strong record of accomplishments in administration, teaching, research, and service.
Although candidates within any subdiscipline of computer science and mathematics are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to candidates with expertise in computer science.
