What You Will Do
Maintain service truck. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including:
Crescent and pipe wrenches
Pliers and screwdrivers
Meters and regulators
Combustible gas indicators
Ladders
Carbon Monoxide Detectors
No Blow Equipment
FI Units
Power tools
Probe Bar
Turn gas service on and off. Install gas meters, regulators, and related equipment. Respond to Natural Gas related emergencies and call outs.
Contribute to efforts on an outage. Assist and Coordinate gas outages and other emergency response situations.
Understand how large capacity regulators & relief values over pressure. Troubleshoot and resolve pressure problems.
Examine and adjust gas-fired equipment.
Investigate customer related orders and emergency situations including:
High bills
Carbon monoxide/fumes
Pressure problems
Possible leaks
Fires
Explosions
Asphyxiations
Natural disasters
Maintain multiple records including:
Orders completed
Leak SR, repairs, and rechecks
Customer information
Yard line replacement request (optional)
Meter inventory
Damage Information Management System (DIMS)
Yard line replacements
Caution tag
Temp line inspection
Equipment calibration reporting
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Need
Experience related to-
Disconnects, reconnects, gas piping, and gas fired equipment.
Use, function, and maintenance of tools applicable to position.
Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Knowledge of use and function of customer service codes and forms.
Knowledge of transmission and distribution pipeline system operations.
Working knowledge and training relative to:
Company and governmental customer service/safety procedures
Customer service emergency procedures
Electronic communications (cell phones, two-way radios) and PragmaCAD system (where applicable)
Characteristics of natural gas
Basic customer service activities
Experience of basic computer usage and applicable computer software.
Experience reading and interpreting maps, atlas pages, house numbers, blueprints, wiring diagrams, pipe sizing tables, and flow charts.
Read and write fluently in English.
Applicable driver's license.
Lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10 15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 15 20 times a day; up to 40 pounds 10 15 times a day; over 50 pounds 2 3 times a week.
Climb ladders; stoop, kneel, and crawl on floors and bare ground to access, adjust, and repair gas fired equipment, meters, and equipment.
React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
Smell odorant in natural gas.
Operate tools and equipment required.
Communicate and exchange information or instructions.
Night visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
