The Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering (MABE) Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), is seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track, lecturer position in biomedical engineering to begin January 1, 2024. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering and perform service duties as needed. The position is a renewable, 9-month appointment, with the opportunity to teach additional courses in the summer. The successful candidate is expected to build an exceptional record of accomplishment in teaching and student engagement, leading to promotions to senior lecturer and distinguished lecturer. Salary and benefits are nationally competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates are required to have earned a doctorate in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field. College-level teaching experience is preferred.

The MABE department currently has 59 faculty members, including 4 senior lecturers, 1 Clinical Associate Professors, and 1 Professor of Practice. There are 1,662 undergraduate and 249 graduate students pursuing degrees at all levels in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or biomedical engineering. There are 383 biomedical engineering undergraduates.

The Tickle College of Engineering is undergoing an unprecedented period of growth and success and anticipates adding over 30 new faculty over the next three years as part of ambitious cluster hiring campaigns lead by Chancellor Donde Plowman and Dean Matthew Mench.
