We are seeking an experienced Engineering leader to oversee the Utilities Energy Services division within the Utilities Customer Connections service unity for the City of Fort Collins. This individual will drive initiatives prioritizing efficiency programs, renewables, building performance standards, electric vehicles, and grid flexibility. You will play a pivotal role in advancing The City of Fort Collins' commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible energy solutions, and your leadership will be instrumental in achieving The City's Our Climate Future outcomes and strategic priorities. You will collaborate with Citywide key stakeholders to develop and promote conservation programs to educate the community on responsible energy usage and lead efforts to incentivize energy-saving practices among residents and businesses.
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive. • Manage and direct energy services engineers, energy services specialists, energy code compliance specialist, interns and other program staff. • Planning of activities, programs and services, focused on matching staff, financial and consultant resources to meet policy goals, management directives and customer expectations. • Assign activities and projects; oversee and review progress of ongoing projects. Evaluate workflow and new project opportunities in a dynamic work environment that necessitates re-prioritization to meet goals. • Provide direction for “day-to-day” activities for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of customer focused energy efficiency programs for the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. • Tracking and technical reporting of program activities, energy and demand savings, financial metrics and community benefits. Annual reporting updates are completed for review by advisory boards, City Manager and City Council. • Prepare budget; approve expenditures; monitor overall compliance with budget; document variances that supports the business models in the delivery of efficiency and conservation programs and services. • Technical evaluation and customer support, in response to customer requests or program support for assistance regarding energy efficiency decisions and alternatives to achieve targeted overall customer satisfaction. • Collaboration with Platte River Power Authority, the City’s wholesale electric supplier on efficiency, renewable energy and resource planning issues in the delivery of programs and services with the Light and Power Deputy Director. • Serve as the Utilities staff liaison to the Energy Board and Council Legislative Review Committee
